Frequently Asked Questions
What qualifications or education do I need to become a Direct Sales Agent at Liberty Life in Lesotho?
A minimum of a COSC or LGCSE certificate is typically required, though a diploma or degree in marketing, business, or finance is advantageous. Strong communication skills in both English and Sesotho are essential for building client relationships. Previous sales experience is preferred but not always mandatory, as many employers provide product-specific training.
What are the typical day-to-day responsibilities of a Direct Sales Agent?
You will spend most days meeting prospective clients in person, explaining life insurance and investment products, and completing policy applications. Administrative tasks include updating client records, following up on leads, and submitting weekly sales reports to your team leader. Success depends heavily on self-discipline and managing your own schedule to meet targets.
How does the work culture and employer expectations differ for sales roles in Lesotho?
Employers in Lesotho emphasize respect for hierarchy and punctuality, with regular morning meetings to review targets and share strategies. Personal accountability is high—agents are expected to work independently with minimal supervision while remaining reachable by phone. Building trust through community networks and face-to-face interaction is valued more than aggressive selling tactics.
What career progression opportunities exist for Direct Sales Agents at Liberty Life?
High-performing agents can advance to Senior Sales Consultant, Team Leader, or Sales Manager positions within two to four years. Some transition into training, underwriting support, or branch management roles depending on performance and additional qualifications. Professional development through the Lesotho Institute of Accountants or insurance industry certifications can accelerate advancement.
What benefits should I expect as a Direct Sales Agent in Lesotho?
Benefits vary by employer but typically include commission-based earnings, performance bonuses, and basic leave entitlements as required by Lesotho labour law. Some larger firms offer group medical aid schemes and pension contributions after a probationary period. It is important to clarify whether benefits are fixed or commission-dependent during your interview.
How do I apply for a Direct Sales Agent position, and what do employers look for?
Apply directly through Liberty Life's Lesotho offices, online job portals, or by submitting your CV to recruitment agencies specializing in financial services. Employers seek candidates with proven resilience, a valid driver's license, and references demonstrating integrity and reliability. Prepare for a practical assessment or role-play scenario during the interview process to demonstrate your sales approach.
