TECHNICAL TRAINEE – Lesotho Institute of Accountants

The role supports LIA’s technical and regulatory mandate through standards monitoring, technical research, member technical support, quality assurance activities and the translation of emerging professional developments into technical guidance and continuing professional development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the coordination of Technical Working Groups meetings, standards development projects and stakeholder consultations, and assisting in the preparation of exposure draft responses and policy papers.
  • Monitoring developments in accounting, auditing, ethics, sustainability and other professional standards, and translating these into technical guidance and member- facing updates.
  • Serving as a member of the Quality Assurance Review (QAR) team, providing technical input, assisting with standards-compliance assessment, and helping draft technical findings within reviews.
  • Participating in Quality Assurance Reviews and assessing selected firms and engagements for compliance with applicable professional standards.
  • Supporting the administration of membership renewals, including verification of CPD compliance, ethical declarations and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintaining accurate technical, membership, CPD and regulatory data and generating reports and analysis to support departmental planning and decision- making
  • Supporting the planning and administration of the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme – event coordination, speaker liaison, participant administration – and helping shape CPD content from standards monitoring.
  • Performing any other technical or departmental duties assigned by the supervisor.
