This post is central to the school’s succession planning. Depending on performance, the incumbent may be considered for future appointment as Principal, or may continue in the Deputy Principal role. This post has been identified as a succession-planning appointment.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Deputy Principal supports the Principal in the overall leadership and management of All Saints English Medium School, and serves as Head of Curriculum, taking direct responsibility for curriculum planning, quality, and delivery – including leading the school’s planned expansion into the Senior Phase (Grades 7-9). The Deputy Principal also carries a light, functional teaching timetable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deputise for the Principal in their absence and support day-to-day school leadership.
  • Contribute to school policy, planning, and decision-making as part of the senior leadership team.
  • Support the Principal in staff supervision, discipline, and general school administration.
  • Lead curriculum planning, coordination, and quality assurance across all subjects and grades.
  • Lead curriculum design for the school’s expansion into the Senior Phase (Grades 7-9), including subject offering and staffing needs.
  • Support subject teachers with lesson planning, assessment standards, and moderation.
  • Monitor academic performance data and coordinate interventions where needed.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Carry a light but functional teaching timetable including designing the subject’s content as the school grows into the Senior Phase (Grades 7-9).
  • Model high standards of classroom practice for the wider teaching staff.
  • Support the pastoral care and discipline structures of the school, including boarding oversight where required.
  • Represent the school at community, church, and parent-facing events as delegated by the Principal.

Requirements

  • Recognised teaching qualification (Bachelor’s degree plus Postgraduate Qualification in Education).
  • Registered as a teacher with the Lesotho Ministry of Education and Training.
  • SACE registration is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years’ teaching experience, with prior experience in a curriculum leadership, HOD, or deputy role preferred.
  • First Aid certification is an ideal, added-bonus qualification.
  • Demonstrated instructional leadership and curriculum management ability.
  • Strong understanding of international curriculum frameworks.
  • Sound judgment, discretion, and the maturity to deputise for the Principal.
  • Strong interpersonal skills across staff, learners, parents, and the Board.
  • High integrity and a demonstrated commitment to professional development, consistent with a potential future Principal appointment.
  • Excellent command and pronunciation of English, with proven English-medium teaching experience – all instruction and school activities, aside from language subjects, are conducted in English.
  • Valid police clearance and contactable references required.
