Key Responsibilities
- Daily cash collection from clients/customers/patients and remit to the Assistant Accountant timeously.
- Daily cash collection from the tuck shop and other income-generating projects of the Hospital.
- Maintain the daily schedule for staff medical aid and submit the list monthly to the Accounts Office for invoicing.
- Have responsibility over petty cash as a custodian.
- Have filing responsibility over petty cash transactions.
- Issue official receipts for all transactions.
- Fill admission charts for admitted patients, ensure that their biographical data is complete and direct them to the appropriate ward.
- Ensure that all information concerning patients is held in the strictest confidence.
- Process accounts/bills for discharged patients.
- Fill in reimbursable grant forms for inpatients and outpatients.
- Run the pay-point at lunch hour, after hours and on call during the night.
- Capture or process invoices with Pastel or Excel for monthly and annual reports.
- Compile and assemble patient records in standard order.
- Conduct yourself with impartiality, integrity, objectivity and honesty and maintain high standards of personal accountability.
- Retrieve medical records when requested only by authorised personnel.
- At all times, provide a caring service and treat those with whom you come into contact in a courteous and respectful manner.
- Fill up the inpatient register for monthly statistical reports.
- Ensure safe handling of cash and keep keys in a safe place whilst scheduled on the pay-point.
