To process mail in order to reach its destination within a short specified period of time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process all incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Receive and enter mail matters in appropriate bills and books.
  • Dispatch internal and international mail and parcels.
  • Sort letters on primary and secondary sorting frames.
  • Sort letters for private bags and private boxes.
  • Report irregularities observed during mail sorting.
  • Forward unclaimed letters to the Returned Letters Office (RLO).
  • Check posted items for damage sustained in transit.
  • Process unclaimed mail matter.
  • Credit and debit customers’ accounts.
  • Record transactions and reconcile with cash balance.
  • Process receipts and payments of money and postal orders.
  • Perform retail duties on a rotational basis.
  • Collect revenue.
  • Process and balance transactions.
  • Accept and deliver mail items.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Accounting, Diploma in Business Management or Diploma in Business Studies, plus two years’ working experience.
  • Experience in Postal Services will be an added advantage.
  • OR
  • COSC plus six (6) years’ working experience as a Postal Clerk (Grade C) or Postal Clerk Assistant (Grade C).
