Key Responsibilities
- Assist Boilermakers during fabrication, welding, cutting, grinding, repairs, installations and preventive maintenance activities.
- Perform basic boilermaking tasks such as measuring, marking, cleaning, grinding and preparing materials and joints.
- Assist with inspections and report cracks, wear, corrosion, damaged steelwork, chutes, guards, platforms and liners.
- Assist Boilermakers to ensure tools, welding equipment, consumables and materials are available and organized before and after maintenance.
- Maintain good housekeeping in the boilermaking workshop and around plant work areas.
- Follow all safety procedures, use correct PPE, and participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings.
- Perform isolation and make equipment and work areas safe before and after boilermaking maintenance.
- Record maintenance activities in job cards or daily inspections as instructed by the supervisor.
- Support Boilermakers with corrective maintenance on chutes, bins, hoppers, conveyors, screens, guards, platforms and plant steelwork.
- Identify hazards and risks while performing daily tasks and take preventative measures.
- Adhere to Security and HSE policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills, COSC and boilermaking/welding-related training will be advantageous.
- A minimum of 1 year experience assisting with boilermaking, fabrication or welding in a mining processing plant.
